The portrait of an artist turned detective - This is the real-life story of a painter once focused on still-lifes and oil colors, now hunting for clues and the truth at the heart of a heartless crime. This first Hebrew edition autobiography of the painter and writer Vera Gutkina. The story unravels a web of deceit and lies in a deeply personal quest to reveal a sinister injustice perpetrated on herself and more than 500 other Russian immigrants to Israel; all of them victims of a massive fraud sanctioned in part by institutions of the state. Armed with her boundless creativity, courage and sense of humor, Vera battles the forces of corruption, leading this struggling collection of victims to an unpredictable result.

Meinrad Craighead (1936-2019) was a classically trained artist and mentor. She is renowned for her exploration of the feminine faces of the Divine and the numerous gifts of the natural world, with particular attention to sacred trees and animals. Meinrad pushed the boundaries of the mediums in which she worked and the confines of her Catholic heritage.
In 2002, Meinrad led one of her workshops, for a small group of women in New Mexico. With the generous support of the Resource Center for Women and Ministry in the South these lectures are free and available on Youtube to the public.
